Thoughts for a New Year 2024

January 1, 2024 by saltblog 2 Comments

A few thoughts for this New Year 2024

As we begin this New Year have we been looking back at the old one and all the ways God has helped us, provided for and been with us?

Are we beginning this New Year longing a closer walk and a deeper relationship with God?

David when he was in the dry and barren wilderness of Judah thought about the longings of his own soul and said ‘O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.’

Are we beginning this New Year with these longings?

Then let’s also be joining David in praising God for His lovingkindness in this past Year.

David also says…

‘Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.’

We can rejoice if we’re there, sheltering in the shadow of God’s wings, close to His side, like a little chick safely tucked under its mother’s wing.

David continues…

‘My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.’

Will this be us in 2024? I pray it will be by God’s grace.

If we follow hard after God His right hand will surely uphold us.

For ‘Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.’

‘Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.’

That’s so good to hear Jeana, it’s lovely to know that we’re following hard after God together even if there’s miles between us.
wishing you a Happy New Year too and the Lord’s blessing in 2024.
