Part Four – Looking Unto Jesus
We’ve looked at laying aside every weight and those sins that hinder us in following Jesus and we’ve looked at running the race with patience. Finally we come to the question, how?
How do we do these things? Maybe you’ve battled and struggled and feel to go backwards or at best at a snail’s pace.
The truth is we can’t do this, at least not alone but we can through Christ in us!
We can run and patiently overcome those hindrances and sins by ‘Looking unto Jesus.’
‘Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;’
‘Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:’
Jesus has gone this way ahead of us and not only has He trod this path and run this race He conquered! He gained the victory over sin, death and hell. And He didn’t just gain it He also gives us the victory through His finished work on the cross.
The battle is still very real but the victory has already been won. He who started you on this race will see to it that you finish.
So go on, fight against those sin and distractions by looking unto Jesus ‘who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.’
When you are weary and ready to give up ‘consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.’
Through Christ you can do all things, He will strengthen you for this race, trust Him.
With love
