How to Choose Life and Peace Rather than Death.

How to Choose Life and Peace Rather than Death.

Given a choice I think all of us would choose life and peace over death.

But did you know that we’re given this choice over and over each day?

‘For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.’

An Autumnal photo showing the trunks of trees with orange and red foliage on the ground and the sun shining through the trees. overlaying the image are the words how to choose life and peace rather than death. this is in white captial letters

As Believers we can choose to set our minds on the things of the flesh. On our circumstances, the problems of those we love, or what’s going on in the world.

Or we can set our minds on the things of the Spirit.

On God and His faithfulness. On His promises, mercy and love.

On what Jesus has done for us and continues to do as He pleads with Our Heavenly Father on our behalf.

On the Holy Spirit and His power and presence to teach, comfort and guide us.

What will you choose?

‘If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.’

Where are our minds and affections today? Because this will affect the way we feel, respond to others and the decisions we make.

Are we running the race to glory ‘looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith’?

‘For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.’

Do you really believe what the Lord said to Paul when He said that ‘My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Because it’s true for each precious soul that trusts Him in their trials. Consider Him!

Where are our minds set? On our troubles? On the troubles in this world around us?  Or on the One who allowed these things to happen and His wonderful promises?

For ‘we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.’

Let’s be those that live with our minds set on Heavenly truths and our eyes fixed on Jesus. Because where our treasure is, there will our hearts be also!

Having our minds set on things above is the only way to have true peace whatever our circumstances may be.

‘Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?…Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.’

Nothing dear Soul can ‘separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.’ So fix your eyes and mind upon those things of the Spirit.

‘Fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.’

‘Be still and know that I am God.’
