Blessed is the Man Whose Strength is in The Lord
‘Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them.’
Who is our source of strength friends? Are we relying on our own efforts or are we leaning into Jesus and His all sufficient grace and strength, trusting Him to live through us and be glorified in our lives?
The word blessed in this verse has the force of an interjection, it’s as though the psalmist bursts out into song saying O blessed man, O happy soul, whose strength is in the Lord!
Happy soul that knows its own weakness and finds in God its source of strength.
Happy soul in whose heart are the ways of the Lord God, who seek not their own way but seek to follow Jesus. Happy soul indeed!
Let’s consider the word strength. This Hebrew word comes from a word meaning prevail. Its strength in various applications, strength as in force, security, majesty and praise.
Through the strength of God we can and will prevail. His strength alone is worthy of praise.
In His strength is security, for it is unfailing.
His strength is majestic, it is the strength of a conquering King, the King of kings!
It’s a strength that has all the force and power of the eternal and living God in it.
And this same God will be our strength in all areas of our life if we lean into and trust Him.
This word for strength also means boldness, loud, might, power and strong.
It’s a forceful, almighty, all conquering strength.
And this strength of God is ours through Christ Jesus if we have put our faith in Him.
So will you trust Him to carry you through this week and be for and in you all you need Him to be?
For has He not said ‘My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.’
And can we continue with Paul and say ‘Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.’
