A question that Christian’s often ask is, what is God’s will for my life?
Now there are specific things we may need direction in but generally speaking, God’s will for us each can be summed up in a few verses.
‘Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
And above all these things put on charity (love in action), which is the bond of perfectness.
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.’
‘Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.’
‘For this is the will of God, even your sanctification.’
‘But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.’
Do we do all for Jesus sake and for the glory of God with a thankful heart?
Are we merciful, kind, humble and patient with one another?
Are we forgiving, allowing the peace of God rule our hearts rather than our passions?
Does God’s word dwell in our hearts, do we study it and seek grace to live it, encouraging one another along the way?
And is it our desire that each circumstance of our lives be sanctified that we might grow in grace and in our knowledge of Jesus?
Because this is God’s will for us.
With love
