Come!

June 23, 2025 by saltblog

Come!

‘Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.’

Come, thirsty soul, come to Christ, the living water and drink. Come to Christ, the bread of life and eat and be filled with that joy and peace that only faith in Him can produce.

You say but I have nothing to bring.

Good, for nothing you have could ever be sufficient.

What then?

There’s never a place for despair because the price has already been paid by Jesus Himself so come, come and buy ‘without money and without price.’

And don’t just come to buy but ‘come ye, buy, and eat;’ feast upon your Saviour’s love. Come to His Word for He Himself is the Word made flesh; and feast upon Him and your soul shall be satisfied. Come buy wine and milk to sustain and nourish you on your pilgrim journey.

‘Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not?’

Why spend all your energy and spare time seeking those things that will never fill you up?

‘Hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.’

Feast upon the goodness of God, eat your fill of the love and grace of Christ, His supplies are endless and you will find you will a joy and peace that circumstances can’t erase.

‘Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live;’

‘Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:’

.

Isaiah 55:1-3, 1 Peter 1:8

Part 2

Come, buy and eat. Come, hear and live,

‘and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.’

What a precious promise, an unbreakable, never ending covenant as sure as the covenant God made with David.

When we come empty handed, in faith, trusting that Jesus has truly paid the price in full with His precious blood then God will indeed make this precious covenant with us.

David’s reign was not a smooth ride but God was with Him and so will He be with us.

And Jesus, who David is a picture of here, is the perfect ‘witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people.’

He’s a witness to us, He’s our guide and counsellor and our wise leader. His word tells us of His life, His love and His beautiful character.

As we seek to follow Him,  so He will gently lead. May God so lead us each and use us for His glory.

Part 3

Come, buy and eat, The price has been paid – this feast is free.

Don’t waste your energy and time on those things that don’t satisfy.

Come, hear, and your soul shall live, it’s free.

‘Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:’ There’s no price to pay.

‘Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.’

But what do I have to do?

Nothing, it’s free!

Jesus paid the price on the cross, He bore the punishment due to us.

It doesn’t make sense, surely there’s something we have to do?

God’s kingdom doesn’t make sense to man’s small way of thinking.

‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.’

So trust Him and come just as you are, believing that His blood was shed for sinners and thus for you.

Turn from the world, turn from unrighteousness and turn to God in faith.

But what about those awful sins?

Come – ‘for he will abundantly pardon.’

With love
