Be not afraid dear trembling soul,
The Father says to thee,
“Do not dismay, I am thy God,
And with thee I will be.
Though thou art weak and knowest not
Howe’er thou wilt get through,
Soul, find in me thy strength thy all,
My grace sufficient prove.
For when the way is rough and steep,
Thy helper I will be,
Thy footsteps in my paths to keep,
My right hand holding thee.”
And so, however high may be
The mountains that you face,
Trust in an all sufficient God,
He’ll help thee by His Grace.

Don’t you just love God’s word? I’ve been thinking a lot over the last few days about these well known words…
‘Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.’
Just before this verse we read that it’s spoken to ‘Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.’
Called, chosen and not cast away! What blessed encouragement is there.
Ancient Israel, like us, battled with sin and were often distracted by the world around them. And these words, spoken many years ago to God’s people Israel, apply just as much to His people today, to His spiritual Israel, to each one of us that have put our trust in Jesus Christ.
So then dear soul, ‘Fear thou not;’ Why? ‘For I am with thee:’.
Precious truth! We don’t need to be afraid because God is with us. I know the future can seem scary at times but He is with you!
And then God continues to tell us to, ‘be not dismayed;’
Why?
‘For I am thy God:’
The One True God, the Creator of all things and the One who gives you each breath! That God is Your God and not only your God but also your Heavenly Father. He loves you and cares for you with perfect love, do you believe it?
But God doesn’t leave it there, He goes in to with this blessed promise…
‘I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.’
‘I will…yea, I will…yea, I will!’
O Trust Him, He will strengthen you, He will help you, He will hold you up and carry you through.
Don’t afraid, but find rest and peace in Him. Abide in His abundant love, grace and mercy, there’s more than enough for all your fears.
With Love
