But…

June 23, 2025 by saltblog

I know I’m a sinner, I feel the conviction but…

No, no buts, just simply that Jesus loved you and died for you!

‘For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.’

But I’m so sinful.  Of course you are, you were born that way, but repent, turn from it, turn by faith to and put your trust in Jesus as your Saviour and God will forgive you.

Right now Jesus is pleading with His Father. He holds out His nail pierced hands and says I died for them. I died so that they might be forgiven, I took their punishment upon myself so that they might go free. So that they might share my inheritance. So they might be one with us!

Will you not believe it?  However awful your sins may be, do you really believe God’s love isn’t big enough for you?

Do you really think that Jesus sacrifice wasn’t enough?

It was, it was complete and He drank every last drop of the wrath of God on that day. When He cried out ‘it is finished’ and the veil of the temple was torn from the top to the bottom the way was made. The way for you to enter by faith into that most holy place and by faith to approach have acceptance with God.

‘He that believeth on him is not condemned:’

And to those of you that already know Christ as your Saviour. Do you have a but too?

Do you say but I keep falling, I’m not as close to God I want to be.

He died to set you free. You’re no longer a slave to sin. Rest in Christ.

Do you really believe what He did was complete or are you trying to add to it?

Rest in His sufficiency, and let Him live through you by His power.

Turn from sin and the world, forsake those things that distract you from Him and abide in His love and fullness.

And from that place of rest, joy and peace that comes from truly abiding in Him, live for Him, not to earn anything but out of love and through the power of Christ in you.

With love

John 3:16-18a, 19:30
