What Does it Mean To Abide in Jesus?

June 2, 2025 by saltblog

What Does it Mean To Abide in Jesus?

Abide in Me and I in You,

What does this great truth mean?

To find in Christ your rest, your all,

Sufficiency in Him.

.

Sufficient yes, to save from sin,

Sufficient too, His grace.

Freed from the bondage of the law,

To righteousness in Christ.

.

From our own works we now can rest,

The price He paid in full.

And now we’re free to live for Him,

Because He is our all.

.

‘Tis love compels us now to live

Each moment for our Lord,

With nought to pay we’re free to give

Ourselves, our lives, our all.

.

In Christ there’s grace, self to deny

Take up our cross and go,

Rising to life anew in Him,

His life through us will flow.

.

Though we are weak ‘tis he is strong,

His strength made perfect is.

All that we need to live for Him,

By Grace to us He gives.

.

The power of God and wisdom too,

Through Christ now dwells in us.

Incredible this truth, but true,

The Spirit makes it thus.

.

So we go forth in Jesus’ name

Trusting His Grace and strength.

Abiding day by day in Him,

‘TIL we are home at length.

.

Then may our lives all glory bring,

To our dear Saviour’s name.

Not by ourselves but as we each,

Daily abide in Him.

.
