Is Fear and Anxiety Wrong?
Fear is a natural response, a gift from God to keep us from walking into danger. But it’s one that can soon get out of hand and consume us with anxiety, turning our thoughts from God and who we know He is in our circumstances.
Having fear isn’t wrong it’s the place where that fear leads us that can become sinful. It’s when fear consumes us and turns our eyes away from trusting in Jesus that it becomes a problem.
What does God tell us to do with those fears and anxious thoughts?
‘Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, Nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?’

Don’t fix your thoughts upon your worries and fears, rather fix them upon Jesus and who He is and all He’s been to you. Fix them upon those things that are good…
‘Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report. If there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.’
And who better to think upon than Jesus who is all those things?
God has told us that He will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Him. Why? Because he trusteth in Him.
Satan knows what precious treasures, faith in God and His promises are. And he’ll do his best to keep us from it.
But don’t let him win. Rather, cast all of your cares (not just some) upon Jesus and trust in the precious promises of God’s word. The devil can’t touch us when we’re resting in the everlasting arms of our Heavenly Father.
So, follow your Saviour’s loving call and ‘come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me. For I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.’
With Love
